You supporting us. Us supporting you.

We recognise that we need local businesses as much as they need us so we work hard to devise packages which will help us to help each other. These divide into two categories: Business Sponsorship and the Local Business Supporter Scheme.

Every year, over two weeks in late Spring, the Swaledale Festival attracts around £680,000 of economic benefit into the Northern Dales, when over 7,000 Festival-goers visit the region. About 60% come from our immediate region - postcodes DL8 to DL11, another 10% from within a 2 hour drive, and the remaining 30% from the rest of the UK and abroad. The majority of these will use a pub, café, shop, accommodation or tourist attraction in the Festival area, possibly several, during their visit to the Festival. With sustained long-term growth in ticket sales, increasing publicity of the Dales through Welcome to Yorkshire, the 2014 Tour de France and a number of very popular TV programmes featuring the Dales, plus the Festival's prominence in national and regional newspapers and magazines, we anticipate that growth continuing.

As a business, why support the Swaledale Festival? We want to use our extensive publicity to help your business and strengthen our local region. Our audience research shows that almost 60% of our visitors will give preference to a business that they know supports the Festival. That’s the business case. In addition it’s worth mentioning that Swaledale Festival not only puts on two weeks of high quality music and arts each year, it also sends artists and other qualified people out into local schools to introduce children to music and the arts. This is provided at no cost to the schools and in recent years the Festival has won four awards for this work from different organisations, including the Prime Minister’s ‘Big Society’ Award. Additionally some of our musicians go into local care homes and similar establishments to perform for residents who are no longer able to come to our concerts. Again this is at no cost to the recipients. Your support helps us to continue this valuable work and means you can give yourselves a pat on the back for Corporate Social Responsibility.

Swaledale Festival Business Sponsorship

Sponsorship Packages

For as little as £500 you can sponsor a unique event with reserved seats, programmes, a chance to meet the artists, and opportunities to showcase your business to our audiences, plus other benefits. However, if you'd prefer your sponsorship to be more concentrated on the advertising and promotional opportunities the whole Festival offers rather than on a particular concert, we can disuss that too.

Contact us to set up a meeting  with Malcolm Creese (Artistic Director) or Janet Hall (Marketing & Publicity) when we can discuss what we can do for each other. Ideally this should be during the autumn months so that we can give you full sponsor exposure in our brochure and other print media in addition to online publicity.

Businesses enjoying a fruitful sponsorship relationship with Swaledale Festival in 2017 are:

Longer term sponsorships

The Festival encourages sponsorship over a period of  three years or more, and we may be prepared to offer higher benefits for such commitment. Where appropriate the benefits on sponsorship packages are open to negotiation to ensure their relevance for both the business and the Festival.

We like to work with our business partners.

Local Business Supporter Scheme (LBSS)

There are numerous local businesses in the Dales providing a multitude of valuable services to visitors and residents alike. We know that a many of these would like to show their support for the Festival but without opting for full-scale sponsorship.

The Festival, on the other hand, wants to make people, visitors in particular, aware of its existence during the rest of the year. The Local Business Supporter Scheme is a means by which the Festival and local businesses can help each other. We provide you with opportunities to tell people about your business; you provide us with a place to display our name and details throughout the year.

For an annual £50 donation we will provide you with:

  • This year's window sticker for your premises or vehicle to identify you as a Local Business Supporter
  • The ‘Business Supporter’ jpg file emailed to you for your website or printed material.
  • A listing on the Festival website with a link to your own business’ website.
  • A black and white text advertisement in our printed programmes which are sold at most of our events.
  • If you follow us on Twitter, we will retweet or answer some of your tweets to spread your word to our followers.

Your financial support goes directly towards financing our programme of first-class events, individual projects with local schools and our support of local churches, chapels and halls which we use as venues throughout the Festival.
