Leave a Legacy
You can make a positive contribution to Swaledale Festival by leaving a legacy or gift in your will.
Your legacy or gift would help to ensure the continued provision of world-class music, arts and walking in the northern Yorkshire Dales. It would also support the development and stability of the Festival’s extensive community and education programme which brings high-quality arts to care home residents and young people in isolated rural communities.
Remembering a charity in your will is straightforward and leaving something to Swaledale Festival, no matter how small, will really make a difference.
How to Leave a Legacy
Legacies can be made by way of a gift of cash, shares or property. Your solicitor can advise you on writing a will. Remember that charitable gifts are free from Inheritance Tax and may also reduce other taxes. Check with your professional adviser or visit www.gov.uk/topic/personal-tax/inheritance-tax.
There are three main types of Legacy:
- Pecuniary Legacy - a monetary gift (bequest) of a fixed sum
- Specific Legacy - a gift of a specific item or asset
- Residual Legacy - a gift of all or part of the assets remaining in your estate after debts, expenses and specific bequests have been paid
